On Tuesday, American musicians Joe Jonas and Charlie Puth appeared on ABC's Good Morning America to announce the nominees for the 2015 American Music Awards. The AMAs will be broadcast live on Nov. 22 at 8 p.m. ET via ABC, hosted by singer-actress Jennifer Lopez. Voting is currently open to the public, and the nominees are numerous.

The most-nominated artist by far this year is country/pop powerhouse Taylor Swift. Swift has wracked up a total of six nominations, among them Artist of the Year and Song of the Year. Pop/rock act Ed Sheeran and R&B legend the Weeknd tied for second most-nominated artists: Both musicians will vie for five awards.

How are the nominees selected?

"American Music Awards nominees are based on key fan interactions as reflected in Billboard magazine and on Billboard.com, including album and digital singles sales, radio airplay, streaming, social activity and touring," according to the AMA. "These measurements are tracked by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Entertainment and Next Big Sound."
