There's a day named after him. There's a country named after him. But Christopher Columbus' name is still a punch in the chest for some people.

Viral video site Cut recently released a video featuring a game of word association. A person behind the camera asks a group of Native Americans to respond to the name "Christopher Columbus." Here's what some of them had to say. 

For some, the answer was brief — but painful. 

"Evil, pure evil."

"Invader. He got lost coming here and he's the one that named us Indians 'cause he thought he was in India."

Some chose to talk about Columbus Day. 

"Confused. I don't think we should have a holiday for it."

There were a few recurring themes.  

"Oh my god. Murderer, rapist."

Some people brought up the ways Native American history has been affected by the explorer.
