The Golden Globes Confused Previous Winners America Ferrera and Gina Rodriguez

They're two Latina Golden Globe-winning actresses. And they are, it turns out, different people.

Early Thursday morning, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which distributes the Golden Globes, enlisted Ferrera to announce the nominations for the 2016 Golden Globes. Unfortunately, according to their Twitter account, it was Rodriguez, a Golden Globe nominee and last year's winner for best actress in a TV series, comedy, who announced the nominations. The tweet has since been deleted.

Twitter noticed. Twice.

The mix-up is especially ironic given Ferrera and Rodriguez's insistence on more roles for Latinas in Hollywood. In October, Ferrera, a Golden Globe winner for her starring role as Betty Suarez on Ugly Betty, parodied Billy Eichner's "LaTina Fey" sketch, in which Eichner asked Fey to name 20 Latino entertainers.

When Rodriguez won a Golden Globe earlier this year, she spoke about the importance of shows like Jane the Virgin, which tell Latino stories.

"This award is so much more than myself," Rodriguez said. "It represents a culture that wants to see themselves as heroes." She then thanked her parents for giving her the chance to dream.

"Thank you to my mom and dad for telling me to dream and to never stop dreaming," she said. "My father used to tell me to say every morning, 'Today's going to be a great day, I can and I will.' Well, Dad, today's a great day. I can and I did."
