During Sunday's racially controversial Oscars ceremony, host Chris Rock welcomed onstage Clueless star and Fox News contributor Stacey Dash. "Happy Black History Month!" Dash said to the surprised audience.

The awkward appearance follows Dash's earlier endorsement of canceling Black History Month and BET as a response to the lack of nominated minority actors and actresses. As for why Dash made an appearance at the Oscars, she took to her blog to explain.

"Which brings me to the joke," Dash wrote in a blog post addressing the appearance. "When they added me to increase the diversity, I'm sure many black people rolled their eyes. I'm not 'black enough,' they say. But guess what? I've heard that all my life. I would rather be a free-thinking black than a cookie-cutter black who thinks — and votes — just like all my friends."

In January, Dash went on Fox News' Fox and Friends and called BET and Black History Month a "double standard," adding that, "Either we want to have segregation or integration."

So when gracing the stage on Sunday, Dash was met with confusion, an expected lack of support and apparently silence, according to Twitter. One user even called her the Ben Carson of the Oscars.
