Hillary Clinton Fires Back at Donald Trump: "He Has No Answers on the Substance"

Impact

Presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton fired back at the attack-laden speech Donald Trump delivered Wednesday morning, saying the presumptive Republican nominee is "going after me personally because he has no answers on the substance."

Clinton made the remarks at a campaign event Wednesday afternoon in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she laid out her economic agenda — a progressive wish list that included enacting paid family leave and debt-free college.

And she waited until the end of her speech to respond to Trump, who on Tuesday had questioned her faith and on Wednesday called her "the most corrupt person ever to seek the presidency."

"He doubled down on being the king of debt, so all he can do is try to distract us," Clinton told the crowd, which at times chanted her name as she laid out her policy proposals. "That's even why he's attacking my faith. Sigh."

She also defended the Clinton Foundation from Trump's attacks, saying she is proud of the money her family's charitable foundation gave to "improve lives around the world."

"It's no surprise that he doesn't understand these things," Clinton said. "The Clinton Foundation helps poor people around the world get access to life-saving AIDS medicine. Donald Trump uses poor people around the world to produce his line of suits and ties."
