What time will Rihanna perform at the 2016 MTV VMAs? Here's everything we know

Rihanna has the range, she has her money, and on Sunday, Aug. 28, she'll have one more prize to add to her collection: an MTV Video Vanguard Award.

The singer will perform a historic set at the awards show, joining rap heavyweights Future and Nicki Minaj and pop icon Britney Spears in the event's star-studded lineup.

In winning the award, Rihanna joins the ranks of previous recipients that range from the Beatles to Madonna to Michael Jackson, whom the award itself is named after.

While MTV does not release the schedule of its VMA performances ahead of the awards show, there's good reason to believe that Rihanna's act will close out the star-studded night.

In years past, the presentation of the Vanguard Award has been the final honor of the night. Who can forget Jay-Z and Blue Ivy storming the stage to accompany a proud Beyoncé as she accepted her award in 2014, in a much needed positive PR move post-elevator scandal?

MTV has been releasing promotional materials hyping up Rihanna's performance for weeks, and if the singer's penchant for flashing lights and killer vocals is any indication, her set at the VMAs is sure to be nothing short of iconic.

The VMAs air on Sunday, August 28 on MTV at 9/8 central.
