San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has been criticized heavily for his protest of the National Anthem. But the young athlete has plenty of supporters alongside him, ranging from singer John Legend to dozens of military veterans and other athletes

In fact, Kaepernick has so much support that on Tuesday, his jersey became the No. 1 selling jersey on the National Football League's official online store, according to CNN.

In an impressive move, the 28-year-old announced he would donate all of the proceeds from the top jersey sales to the community.

"I want to thank everyone who has shown me love and support, it truly means a lot," the quarterback wrote on Instagram on Wednesday. "I wasn't expecting my jersey sales to jump to number one because of this, but it shows the people's belief that we can achieve justice and equality for all!"

"The only way I can repay you for the support is to return the favor by donating all the proceeds I receive from my jersey sales back into the communities," he continued. "I believe in the people, and we can be the change!"

Last week, Kaepernick announced that he would be donating $1 million to charity, according to NBC News
