The VP debate is in Farmville, VA — and Twitter won't shut up about that Facebook game

Impact

Since Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine and Indiana Gov. Mike Pence spent the majority of Tuesday night's vice presidential debate in Farmville, Virginia, talking over each other, viewers turned their attention to something more pressing — FarmVille, the Facebook game of choice for aunts everywhere.

Twitter users waxed nostalgic over the game that once had us all paying very real money for virtual ears of corn.

It's no surprise the 2016 presidential race has had us all longing for simpler times when Facebook was first and foremost meant for exchanging "flair," swapping "bumper stickers" and helping harvest each other's imaginary farms.

Oh, to return to a time when the most irksome thing to plague our Facebook feeds were those interminable crop status updates — and not offensive political diatribes from our uncles.
