Black smoke billowing across the tarmac at Chicago's O'Hare Airport on Friday was the result of an engine fire in an American Airlines plane, according to an NBC Nightly News report.
All passengers were deplaned after Flight 383 began experiencing engine issues as it went down the runway, according to the report. The Chicago Fire Department told NBC that it was on the scene and attempting to control the blaze.
A separate, conflicting report from ABC News claimed that the fire was the result of a blown tire, citing the Federal Aviation Administration.
