Washington Election Results Live: Hillary Clinton wins the Evergreen State

Impact

Hillary Clinton has won Washington, the Associated Press reported late Tuesday night.

Clinton has regularly led the polls in the state during the election. A University of Washington poll released Oct. 27 showed Clinton was up 14 percentage points (counting those who identified as fully and partially decided) in the Evergreen State.

Just weeks before the election, Clinton held a fundraiser and met with campaign workers in Seattle, where she called the 2016 presidential campaign "incredibly painful."

"It hurts our country, it hurts our democracy, it sends terrible messages to so many people here at home and around the world," she said, according to the Seattle Times. "Damage is being done that we're going to have to repair. Divisions are being deepened that we're going to have to try and heal."

Washington state has gone blue in every election since 1988.
