Oklahoma Election Results Live: Donald Trump defeats Hillary Clinton in Oklahoma

Impact

Oklahoma is about as red as it gets in America. In 2012, the state voted for Mitt Romney by a margin of more than 33 percentage points.

2016 was no different.

Oklahoma has only gone blue once since 1952 and has voted for the Republican presidential candidate since 1968. Trump campaigned there minimally, though he did attract protesters to a fundraiser in Norman, Oklahoma, in September. Trump also tapped an Oklahoma representative to run his Native American Coalition.

One poll found Trump winning by 15 percentage points in mid-September, a smaller margin than Romney's victory four years ago. Oklahoma has seven electoral votes.
