Hillary Clinton has won her home state, taking Illinois in a long-expected win over Donald Trump and bringing 20 electoral votes into her column.

The race in Illinois was never close. Two polls in late October showed Clinton with low double-digit leads in the state. While Clinton was a senator from New York and ran her campaign from Brooklyn, she has deep familial roots in Illinois. She recently reminded supporters she has been a longtime Chicago Cubs fan.

Barack Obama, who won Illinois by 16 points four years ago and 20 points in 2008, was a senator from Illinois before he won the White House. He ran his presidential campaigns from Chicago.

Illinois has gone blue for every presidential election starting from 1992.
