Arizona grandma feeds stranger who she accidentally invited to Thanksgiving dinner

Thanksgiving dinner can already be awkward with your family and friends. But what happens when a stranger gets invited to the big day? Apparently, it was all gravy at a Thanksgiving dinner in Mesa, Arizona.

Jamal Hinton, a 17-year-old student at Desert Vista High School, received a text message from Wanda Dench with an invite to dinner. But Dench, who was trying to text her grandson, had the wrong number.

"I texted back and I said 'Who is this?' And she was like, 'Your grandma.' Hinton told ABC 15.

After an exchange that included pictures to verify that they weren't related, Hinton asked if he could still come and grab a plate. And just like a nice grandma, she had the perfect reply.

"Of course you can," Dench said. "That's what grandmas do ... feed everyone!"

And on Thursday, Dench made good on that promise, ABC 15 reported. When Hinton arrived at Dench's home, they shook hands and quickly embraced.

"I'd never seen her before and she welcomed me into her home," Hinton said. "That shows me how great of a person she is, I'm thankful for people like that."
