How to delete your Snapchat account for good
Snapchat has become one of the most popular social media platforms, but its ephemeral nature doesn't appeal to everyone — especially older generations. The app doesn't offer very many unique innovations anymore, since Instagram copied a number of its features over the summer. Whether you've been lured away by Instagram Stories or simply aren't a fan of Snapchat, here's a simple guide to deleting your account for good.
How to permanently delete your Snapchat account
Uninstalling the Snapchat app on your phone will stop your notifications, but it won't actually delete the account forever. There are a few extra steps involving a web browser, but the process is pretty straightforward.
First, head to Snapchat's support page to log in with your username and password. A mobile browser like Safari or Google Chrome will work just fine if you want to use your phone. After filling in your account details, select the box directly underneath to confirm you're not a robot. Hit "Log in" once the CAPTCHA is checked.
Now you just need to reenter your password and you'll be presented with the option to delete your account. Keep in mind the deletion is truly permanent. If you ever want to get back on Snapchat, you'll have to start over from scratch.
Once you've made peace with your decision, click on the "Delete My Account" button and you're all set.
