Valerie Fairman Death: Latest on the investigation into the '16 and Pregnant' star's death
Valerie Fairman, 23, who previously appeared on an episode of MTV's 16 and Pregnant, was found dead on Wednesday in Caln Township, Pennsylvania, USA Today reported on Thursday. Authorities have not yet released a cause of death, and an investigation into Fairman's death is reportedly ongoing.
Fairman appeared in the second season of 16 and Pregnant, in an episode that documented the birth of her daughter, Nevaeh, now 7 years old. MTV confirmed Fairman's death on Thursday and said in a statement, "We are saddened by the news of Valerie Fairman's passing ... Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time."
Fellow former 16 and Pregnant stars, including Jenelle Evans, Leah Messer, Kailyn Lowry and Farrah Abraham shared messages reacting to news of Fairman's death on social media.
Fairman reportedly "struggled with substance abuse," according to USA Today. It's not yet clear whether that was a factor in her death.
Speaking to E! News on Thursday, Valerie Fairman's mother Janice Fairman said that she has "had custody" of Fairman's daughter Neveah and that Neveah was " doing very well" and is "surrounded by support and friends."
