What is the weather forecast for Inauguration Day on Jan. 20?

Impact

With the 58th presidential inauguration just days away, protesters and supporters are gearing up to head to Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., to witness Donald Trump be sworn-in as the 45th president of the United States. But despite Trump's pronouncements that the event – which has so far raised $90 million – will be a "very, very elegant day," it looks like there's going to be rain on Trump's inaugural parade.

The Weather Channel reports a 90% chance of rain as a storm passes over Washington through Friday. On Friday night, the rain will give way to fog, leaving a gloomy atmosphere over an event that's struggled to book decent performers and was already lagging by a million attendees (including protesters) compared to Obama's record-setting 2009 inauguration. The Washington area is expected to see 1,200 buses of protesters for the Women's March on Saturday Jan. 21, when skies will be partly cloudy but dry.

Trump wrongly claimed that "all the dress shops" in D.C. had sold out and that it's "hard to find a great dress for this inauguration," but it looks more likely that it's the area's umbrella shops that will run out of stock. Too bad those "Make America Great Again" hats aren't water-resistant.
