Grammys 2017 Date: Here's when music's big night will take place

Culture

During the heart of awards season are the Grammys, tucked between the SAG Awards and the Oscars. The annual ceremony honoring outstanding accomplishments in music is scheduled for 8 p.m. Eastern on Feb. 12 at Los Angeles' Staples Center and will be broadcast on CBS.

Who's hosting?

The Late Late Show's James Corden will emcee the ceremony. Corden, who previously hosted the 2016 Tony Awards — earning its highest overnight rating in 15 years — is the man behind the wheel of the popular Carpool Karaoke sketch.

"The biggest thing with the Grammys is that it's a music show more than an awards show," Corden told Entertainment Weekly about his upcoming hosting gig. "Mostly your job is to just usher the show along with as much joy and energy as possible, really. I'm going to try and do a couple of things that haven't been seen before, but I don't know — I might lose my nerve and decide not to!"

However, Corden said he probably won't present a Carpool Karaoke segment due to lack of time during the broadcast.

Who's performing?

Carpool Karaoke aside, the Grammys will have no shortage of entertainment. The starry lineup of performers includes nominee Adele, John Legend, Bruno Mars, Metallica, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban.

The nominees, which were announced in December, include a predicted showdown between popular recording artists Beyoncé and Adele. Both artists were nominated for album of the year, record of the year and song of the year, among others. With 62 nominations under her belt, Beyonce is the most-nominated woman in Grammy history; for her part, Adele has already won 10 Grammys.
