Katy Perry announces 2017 Grammys performance. Is she gearing up for her next album?
KatyCats, get ready.
The official Twitter account of the Recording Academy, which organizes the Grammys, announced Monday evening that Katy Perry will be performing at the 2017 Grammy Awards on Feb. 12. In their accompanying picture, they provided a look at a new blonde Perry.
In less than 20 minutes, the post garnered almost 3,000 retweets.
According to Billboard, Perry will be performing a new single, "Chained to the Rhythm" from her upcoming untitled fourth album. The song features Skip Marley, Bob Marley's grandson. Billboard reported that the single will drop Friday.
Perry's fans went into a frenzy at the mention of a new single, understandably, as she hasn't released a new album since 2013's Prism. #KatyIsComing began trending on Twitter.
Perry's Twitter account added fuel to the speculation fire surrounding her latest era. On Monday night, her page received a total revamp, with a bubblegum pink and sky blue color palette dominating the visual. In the images, Perry sports blonde hair, a departure from her signature dark hair.
As for her Grammys performance, Perry will join a long list of talented performers, including Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Adele and Chance the Rapper.
The world will know within the week if this new Perry slays or flops.
