Impact

The time has come. No, not Judgment Day -- don't worry.

UPDATES:

10:55 p.m. @CBSNEWS"BREAKING: CBS NEWS INSTANT POLL Who won the #Debate? OBAMA: 53%; ROMNEY: 23%, TIE: 24% (Margin of Error: 4%; Sample Size: 521)"

10:45 p.m. Post-debate commentary: Gary Johnson + Phillip DeFranco = Can't get any better than this! Oh, and Elliott Morgan too... :)

10:42 p.m. Best commentary by a friend:

10:33 p.m. "This nation is the hope of the Earth," Romney said. (mumble...says "hope" several more times."). Is Romney going for one of Obama's 2008 campaign slogans?

10:30 p.m. Lol, Obama shows humor in closing statement. "I will fight for your family."

10:29 p.m. "I think we all love teachers" - Schieffer (oh thank goodness, I'm not the only one exasperated by this.)

10:26 p.m. FACT CHECK TIME: Did Romney support the auto bailout? Well...not exactly. His 2008 op/ed in the New York Times starts with:

"IF General Motors, Ford and Chrysler get the bailout that their chief executives asked for yesterday, you can kiss the American automotive industry goodbye. It won't go overnight, but its demise will be virtually guaranteed."

10:23 p.m. Obama: U.S. should use pacific trade with other countries in order to pressure China to cooperate and slams Romney for wanting to ship jobs in the auto industry overseas. But it seems like his wife likes cadillacs, and he likes cars very much:

10:21 p.m. Yes, we're behind! More tech research...more teachers...blah...thank you for telling us that for the umpteenth time.

10:19 p.m. "On day one, I'll label them a currency manipulator," Romney. Yes, if you have time between repealing Obamacare and fending off a Chinese trade-war...

10:16 p.m. OH THANK GOD Romney didn't follow Obama's lead with education and go back to talking about domestic policy. But the two's responses on how to address China are pretty similar.

10:15 p.m. Obama sees China as both an adversary and a potential partner. Also calls China a "cheater,"...sounds pretty similar to Romney.

10:14 p.m. "The rise of China," Schieffer

10:13 p.m. Obama mentions Somalia and Yemen as examples of where the administration is working on addressing moving away from extremism. Err...probably not the best examples...Somalia? Really??

10:12 p.m. Romney says it's time to move away from terrorism and not only target specific individuals.

10:06 p.m. Romney: we need to move Pakistan in the right direction, and help Afghanistan make the transition.

10:04 p.m. "We'll make sure we bring our troops out by 2014," Romney said. ...hold up! Didn't Paul Ryan say the other day that you guys don't want to set a for-sure timeline to broadcast what you guys are going to do?

10:03 p.m. "We'll catch up," Schieffer said. Lol. Nice, friendly way to put it.

10:03 p.m. "We didn't forget [Peyton's] father," Obama said of getting bin Laden.

9:59 p.m. No hypothetical situations about Israel attacking Iran for Romney...I guess this shows he'll be prepared? ...or he didn't prepare an answer.

9:58 p.m. Obama using pathos to describe his empathy for people struggling in the Middle East. (comparing the two's use of travels, in response to Romney saying Obama didn't visit Netanyahu during his tour of the Middle East.)

9:56 p.m. "We're four years closer to a nuclear Iran," Romney said.

9:55 p.m. "When I came into office, the world was divided," Obama said.

9:54 p.m. Obama calls what Romney said of his apologies, "the biggest whopper."

9:53 p.m. Obama went on an "apology tour," according to Romney. Yeah, I guess it includes this too:

9:50 p.m. "Those are reports in the newspaper. They are not true," Obama says. Wait, wait, whoa there. Newspapers don't print the truth? #gaffe

9:49 p.m. Sanctions. More santions. "I would tighten those santions further," Romney says.

9:48 p.m. Did Romney just say that he will win this election? "When I'm president of the United States, I will stand with Israel." - Romney. Nice to know you're confident.

9:45 p.m. "I will stand with Israel," Obama says. "As long as I am President of the United State, Iran will not get a nuclear weapon."

9:44 p.m. "Redlines, Israel, and Iran" - Schieffer

9:42 p.m. Are we still talking about balancing the budget?

9:39 p.m. Déjà vu. *bangs head against desk*

9:38 p.m. Romney back about 'Massachusetts schools are #1' My facebook page is boutta blow up again with this article

9:37 p.m. Schieffer tries to get them back on topic...but then he gave in to Romney's pressure.

9:36 p.m. Obama talking about hiring math teachers to help create businesses and companies.  Let's take bets on how long this domestic policy discussion will take?

9:33 p.m. Oh God...not the 5-point plan AGAIN.

9:32 p.m. "Wrong and reckless" - Obama on Romney's foreign policies

9:29 p.m. Did Romney just go back in time and start to talk about domestic policy...again?

9:28 p.m. "What is America's role in the world?" - Schieffer

9:27 p.m. Romney talks about promoting peace around the world. Okay, wait, how does providing weapons to rebels help peace?

9:23 p.m. "He doesn't have different ideas, because we're doing exactly what we should be doing," Obama says, of Romney. So...basically you guys are the same?

9:19 p.m. Both parties want Assad gone.

9:18 p.m. Obama argues that giving weapons to Syrian opposition is not the "simple" path. Yes! Finally someone sees that we shouldn't have a repeat of a weapons to bin Laden situation...

9:05 p.m. "America is our friend" - Obama said of what Libya believes.

8:57 p.m. FOX News to back the "Chinese Professor" ad

If you didn't get enough of this during Fall 2010, you're in luck! FOX News, CNN, MSNBC, Headline News, AMC, Fox Business, and Hallmark all plan to broadcast this criticism of the U.S.'s spending habits and tendency to borrow money to pay back debt. It's kind of funny that how much we're paying attention to China...because the U.S. only owes 10% of our debt to China today, compared to 12% two years ago.

7:25 p.m. High expectations, much? #debate

6:52 p.m. Will Bob Schieffer be a "Crowley" or a "Lehrer"?

In an interview with the Palm Beach Post, Schieffer said, "If [the debate] gets off topic, I won't hesitate to say, 'Can we get back on subject?'"

6:25 p.m. Great news for democracy! Americans are trying to educate themselves.

Looks like the first two presidential debates of this season had the highest viewerships since 2000. Could it be that people are interested in how tight this race has become?

6:09 p.m. 'Is there anything else you need to know?' says Obama.

5:56 p.m.: Washington Post - ABC News Poll calls for even split across most issues.

The poll also found that 48% of Americans considered Obama to be a better Commander-in-Chief, compared to 45% of Americans who thought Romney is more qualified. Overall, Romney has caught up to Obama in foreign policy issues, despite trailing a few weeks ago.

MONDAY, Oct. 22, 1:45 p.m.

While the polls say the two candidates are pretty much tied up, Monday's debate will give the few, but important, undecided voters a peak into the two candidate’s foreign policy stances. What do they want to do with  the war on terror, how do they plan to tackle problems in the Middle East and Northern Africa, and what kind of relationship do they want the U.S. to have with China? Hopefully, we'll get these answers on Monday.

"Mr. President, how's the War on Terror going?"

"Oh. I see. Well, I never understood what exactly happened in Benghazi. Can anyone explain that for me?"

 "What?! *groans*"

"Too many words...ugh. Is the Middle East okay? Like, you know...all that Arab Spring stuff?"

"How should we handle Iran?"

"And what about China? Should we get involved with the Japan-China islands dispute?"

"Just kidding. Looks like Romney got a headstart."
