Ink Master might not be on the air right now, but Spike is proving to be the go-to channel for all things tattoos. On Tuesday the network is launching their new digital series, The Art of Ink.

The Art of Ink is a six-episode series that explores a different genre of tattoos every week. Each installment features top artists in the industry as they reveal a bit of history behind some of the imagery and techniques they use.

Episode one, The Art of Ink: Japanese, features Taki Kitamura and Horitomo of State of Grace Tattoo in San Jose, California, and Luke Stewart of Seventh Son Tattoo in San Francisco, California. Watch the Mic exclusive premiere below:

Spike will be releasing a new episode every Tuesday leading up to the season nine premiere of Ink Master on June 6. While the digital series is a standalone from the reality competition, it's an interesting — and educational — watch for viewers who want to know more about the styles behind some of the weekly challenges.

Future installments of The Art of Ink will cover new school, biomechanical, water color, neo traditional and trash polka.
