Justin Timberlake gets in on "It's gonna be May" meme

Every year, once the calendar closes in on May 1, the *NSYNC memes begin. 

In 2000, the band released their hit single "It's Gonna Be Me." In the band's top 10 hit, it sounds like Justin Timberlake is singing "It's gonna be May." Instead, the singer is actually singing "It's gonna be me." 

As a result, over the past few years, the internet has turned it into one of its major annual memes in anticipation of the month. 

This year, Timberlake got in on the action and took to social media to acknowledge one of the internet's biggest memes:

In an attempt to dethrone *NSYNC's May meme, other artists threw in their own versions. 

*NSYNC's rival boy band from back in the day, the Backstreet Boys, tweeted out their own version. Yes, the Backstreet Boys have a Twitter account and it is active:

Republic Records used the "I love me" lyric from Hailee Steinfeld's self-empowerment anthem, "Love Myself":

The May meme has now officially reached its peak and it's time to pick another month.
