American military officials have said a large U.S. military force is no longer needed in Iraq. Former commander in Iraq General Ray Odierno recently said major security progress has been made in the country.
Still, heavy violence erupted in Iraq last week.
As American troops begin to pull out of Iraq at the end of the year, how will things play out? Should the U.S. maintain some form of permanent presence in the country?
