Star Trek Into Darkness: Complete Plot Synopsis and Release Date

We still have months and months (six to be exact) to wait until Star Trek Into Darkness is a reality, but fans are already chomping at the bit. After lots of online plot speculation, producer J.J. Abrams and company were finally swayed into publishing an official synopsis.

While the synopsis they lay forth is definitely riddled with vagueries it will give Trekkies a lifeline for the next few weeks until the December 14 promotional trailer is released. The synopsis, posted on the site Coming Soon, is posted here: "When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

With a personal score to settle Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirke has left: his crew."

As I said, vagueries. But, a manhunt in space ... and that's all that really matters, right?

We do also know the film will star John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg, Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, Karil Urban, Anton Yelchin, Benedict Cumberbatch, Peter Weller and Alice Eve.

Audiences will get to see the film in all of it's glory on May 17, 2013. What do you think about the plot synopsis? Share your thoughts below.
