Lady Gaga thanked Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev for opposing his party's "anti-gay propaganda," says AP via Yahoo News

Gaga tweeted the former president of Russia "her gratitude" for opposing regional laws that penalize to provide minors with information about homosexuality.

"[Thank you for] not standing by your party's anti-gay propaganda law," said the performer of "Born This Way."

The global pop star, a.k.a. Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, tweeted from the Russian city of St. Petersburg, where a bill imposing fines of up to $150,000 for providing minors with "homosexual propaganda," has been passed (despite the fact that homosexuality was decriminalized in Russia in 1993).

Medvedev was asked about the law in a television interview where he said, "not all relations between people can be regulated by law."
