William Spengler Identified as Shooter Who Killed Firefighters in Webster

Impact

Webster police have reportedly confirmed that this morning’s shooting of four firefighters in Webster, New York, was in fact a trap — that the shooter set the fire to lure them there.

They also identified the shooter as William Spengler, 62, who had an extensive criminal record, including the murder of his grandmother in the ‘80s. He was found dead at the scene of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The two firefighters who were killed were Lieutenant Mike Chiapperini and Tomasz Kaczowka. Two more, Theodore Scardino and Joseph Hofsetter remain in critical condition.
