The 85th Academy Awards is a who's who of Hollywood veterans.
From the senior division we welcome back Tarantino, Day-Lewis, Field, De Niro and Helen Hunt. Even the fresh faces have recent nominations in their wakes, with Chastain, Lawrence and Hathaway all looking for their first Oscar.
In 2010, the Academy decided to return to their roots expanding from five best picture nominees to ten, a total unseen since the mid-40s. This year finally boasts enough quality pictures to warrant such a list, providing best picture drama reminiscent of 2002 when Chicago edged out a deep field including The Pianist, The Hours and The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.
Other compelling storylines include: Will Jessica Chastain capture the Academy Award for a performance in a supporting role and become a true A-lister?
Will Daniel Day-Lewis make history by being the first actor to win three Best Actor Oscars?
Can Jennifer Lawrence cap off a tremendous year with an upset win over a handful of Oscar veterans?
These questions and more will be answered at the Kodiak Theater on Hollywood Boulevard, complete with fashion dos and donts and the most famous piece of fabric in Tinseltown, the red carpet.
