Could Argo Snag Best Motion Picture?

Culture

My pick for Best Motion Picture at the Golden Globe Awards is Argo, the story of a courageous Iranian servant girl, Sahar, who risks her life by lying to secret police in order to cover for American embassy staff ensconced in the Canadian ambassador’s residence. In this pathos-laden tale of self-sacrifice, Sahar must leave everything behind and escape as a refugee into Ba’athist Iraq, only to be forgotten by those whose lives she saved, as well as by most viewers and re-viewers of the film.

Strangely, this is not the way the film was marketed, with emphasis instead falling on "a slam-bang ending... that’s guaranteed to have audiences cheering."

Ah, who are we kidding? It'll be Lincoln.
