New Video Game Lets You Shoot NRA President David Keene In The Head

Impact

A new amateur video game is taking discourse on the Sandy Hook shootings — and NRA President David Keene — to a “whole new level.”

Apparently part of a larger project meant to recreate the entire shootings in the form of a homebrew video game, a portion of the game has been released which allows the player to shoot Keene at a press conference. It boasts the tagline “Bullet to the Head of the NRA: Fuck You!”

The creator of the game, a self-identified ‘dramacrat’ named gizmo01942, posted a series of screenshots and a demo to a thread on the "Your Shitty Projects" subforum of the Encyclopedia Dramatica forum. The option to kill Keene is apparently intended as bonus content to the main game, which he refers to as a “nifty sociological experiment.” He posted a message encouraging other members of the forum to spread the game, saying “share this everywhere, especially gun-nut and anti-game websites. Also see if you can't send it in to the NRA somehow, like through the feedback on their website or something.”

Other members laughed about the game, alternately calling it "shitty" and complimenting the developer's work. One joked that he was "so fucking outraged right now, I can barely control myself."

It may be intended as a response to NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre’s recent press conference in which he heaped blame upon the video game industry, calling it a “corrupting shadow industry” culpable for producing the “filthiest form of pornography.” As PolicyMic noted, LaPierre’s list of the worst video games was hilariously out of date, spurring internet mockery from gamers.

Screenshots below, but warning for extremely low-res violence (even older-looking than some of the games LaPierre highlighted):
