What Time is the Inauguration? Full Ceremony Schedule

Impact

President Barack Obama was officially sworn-in for the second time during a private ceremony on Sunday, January 20, by Chief Justice John Roberts of the United States Supreme Court. That ceremony was broadcast across the country, but was not attended by the media or members of the public.

On Monday, January 21, President Obama will attend a second public inaugural ceremony where he will give a speech on his vision for the future of the country and outline his plan for the next four years of his administration, as well as take the oath of office yet another time.

Here’s the schedule, in EST:

11:20 AM: Obama will take his seat.

11:35 AM: Myrlie Evers-Williams, the widow of slain civil rights leader Medgar Evers, will give the invocation.

11:55 AM: Chief Justice John Roberts will administer the oath of office.

12:00 PM: President Obama will give his second inaugural address.

The ceremonies will be accompanied by music, poetry, and extremely specific time cues for individual persons to take their seat. For example, First Lady Michelle Obama will take her seat at precisely 11:14 AM.
