Following reports that Beyonce lip-synced the national anthem on Monday at President Obama's second inauguration the question is will she fake it as well during the Super Bowl Halftime Show?
The singer is scheduled to perform at the XLVII Super Bowl Halftime Show from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana in what it has been billed an over the top number where Beyonce will reportedly reunite with the band Destiny's Child.
But the anticipation generated by the singer's participation in this year's Super Bowl is now being overshadowed by the inauguration incident. Beyonce was praised for a supposedly sublime performance of the national anthem, but everything collapsed when multiple media sources — starting with Washingtonian's Sophie Gilbert — confirmed what it had been a supposedly malicious rumor:
... to close observers, it appeared the performer was not singing live. To press seated just below the podium, in front of the “President’s Own” Marine Corps Band, it was evident that the band wasn’t actually playing during the song—even though band director Colonel Michael J. Colburn was conducting energetically and the band members mimicked blowing into their instruments. Separately, at one point during her performance, Beyoncé removed her earpiece.
