Illegal Guns Super Bowl Ad: City Mayors Try and Pressure Congress With New Commercial

Impact

Mayors Against Illegal Guns, a pro gun regulation group chaired by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, ran a Super Bowl 2013 ad trying to persuade Congress to pass universal background checks — in the midst of a nation-wide intense debate over gun rights and responsibilities in the wake of last year's Aurora and Newtown mass shootings.

The ad is part of the group's "Demand A Plan" campaign, which tries to motivate voters to convince lawmakers that stricter gun regulations are required in the wake of the aforementioned tragedies.
