George W. Bush's Paintings: Hacker Gains Access to Dubya's Self-Portraits

Culture

A hacker under the alias "Guccifer" gained access to some personal photos and sensitive correspondence from members of the Bush family and friends, including both former U.S. presidents.

The photos and e-mails were uploaded yesterday to an online account that's apparently been hacked for the purpose of hosting the private material.

The correspondence obtained indicates that at least six separate e-mail accounts have been hacked, including that belonging to Dorothy Bush Koch — Dubya's sister. Other breached accounts belong to Willard Heminway, 79, an old friend of the 41st president who lives in Greenwich, Connecticut; CBS sportscaster Jim Nantz, a longtime Bush family friend; former first lady Barbara Bush's brother; and George H.W. Bush's sister-in-law.

Despite everything that's been released though, it's all pretty normal, boring stuff. I wonder how many other people could have their personal e-mail accounts hacked without producing any scandal.

Perhaps the most interesting of what was released were Dubya's self-portraits. While some have dismissed them as "awkward and simple" I think they're pretty damn good! It might be a little awkward that he sent them to his sister though. Still, this story gets a 4 on my scandal scale.
