San Bernardino police spokeswoman Cindy Bachman has confirmed one deputy was killed in the final hours of a manhunt for Christopher Dorner, the rogue ex-police officer who went on a weeklong rampage against LAPD officers in apparent revenge for his 2008 firing from that agency.

The suspect "has been described as looking similar to Christopher Dorner, and we have reason to believe it is him," Bachman said, adding that "That is unconfirmed at this time."

Bachman said that one officer, a deputy, was killed by Dorner as he fled his vehicle on U.S. Highway 38 after Fish & Game wardens spotted him driving out of the area. One other officer was wounded, but is expected to survive.
