Razzie Awards 2013: 'Breaking Dawn 2' Leads the Nominee Pack, Of Course

Culture

For some, the Academy Awards mark the pinnacle of a year’s worth of cinematic achievement. The purported "best films of the year" are showered with one accolade after another for hours on end, punctuated by the occasional musical number, video montage, or emotional acceptance speech. Frankly, it’s all a bit much.

But let’s not forget the lesser known but equally painful ceremony that comes the night before Oscar. Since 1980, the Golden Raspberry Awards, or the "Razzies," have done a commendable job recognizing the absolute worst and most aggressively unwatchable films of the year. Here are your nominees for 2012:

As you can see, the overall frontrunner is the latest Twilight entry, with a nomination in every one of the twelve categories. If it wins them all, it will surpass Ben-HurTitanic, and The Return of the King’s eleven respective Oscar wins and set a new Razzie record.

Also, apparently there’s a film called The Oogieloves in Big Balloon Adventure. Just saying.

The Golden Raspberry Awards are not (yet) a televised event, but it appears you can watch them here on the official YouTube channel Saturday, February 23 (exact time TBD).
