Tie at Oscars: Best Sound Editing Results in Tie

In a rare turn of events there was a tie in the Best Sound Editing category. Both Zero Dark Thirty and Skyfall took home the award. The nominees were:

Erik Aadahl and Ethan Van der Ryn, Argo
Wylie Stateman, Django Unchained
Eugene Gearty and Philip Stockton, Life of Pi
Per Hallberg and Karen Baker Landers, Skyfall
Paul N.J. Ottosson, Zero Dark Thirty

In the Oscars if three or less votes seperate the winner and the runner up a tie is declared. This happened only twice in Oscars history. Once in 1968 for Barbra Streisand and Katherine Hepburn for Best Actress and once in 1931/2 when Fredric March and Wallace Beery tied for Best Actor.
