Rand Paul Filibuster LIVE: Paul Drones on about Drones #filiblizzard
On Wednesday Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) announced just before 12 PM that he would speak "for the next few hours" during the floor debate on the nomination of John Brennan to the post of CIA director. On Monday, Paul received a letter from Attorney General Eric Holder addressing Paul's question of whether the White House believes it can use military force to kill U.S. citizens on American soil. In that letter Holder said in part,
"It is possible, I suppose, to imagine an extraordinary circumstance in which it would be necessary and appropriate under the Constitution and applicable laws of the United States for the President to authorize the military to use lethal force within the territory of the United States."
The response did not sit well with Paul, a libertarian-minded Republican and son of former Texas congressman and three-time presidential candidate Ron Paul. Rand was was elected in 2010 thanks in large part to Tea Party momentum.
