ePad Femme Tablet Review: The World's First Tablet "For Women" is Here

How many of you women envy your man's iPad, Nexus, Galaxy Note, or Kindle and wish there was a less complicated tablet just for you? Well, hold onto your oven mitts, because Eurostar Group is coming to the rescue!

The ePad Femme, touted by the Middle East-based company as the "world's first tablet made exclusively for women," comes pre-loaded with tons of great apps so you don't have to struggle with purchasing your own. In fact, you can't add new apps at all!

All of the apps (that's short for "applications," in case you haven't caught on) address exactly what women want most: there's one for yoga, grocery shopping, cooking, pregnancy, and even weight-loss. The app icons are set on a pretty light pink background, so you don't even have to worry about changing it from a more masculine one.

"It makes a perfect gadget for a woman who might find difficulties in terms of downloading these applications and it is a quick reference," said Mani Nair, associate vice president for marketing at Eurostar.

The tablet was first announced in October, but was marketed as a great Valentine's Day gift idea, which is why it is just starting to gain popularity. It has a 1.5GHz processor, 16GB of internal storage, and an SD card slot — but like we'll ever need to know what all those numbers mean! It's pink, after all!

In all seriousness, though, this idea is seen as equally ridiculous in the Middle East.

Eman al-Nafjan, a feminist blogger based in Saudi Arabia, explained that women in her country and the United Arab Emirates are very accustomed to technology and indeed "spend a lot of time online."

"Whoever made this tablet doesn't understand us very well," she added. "We are home all the time and we are extremely tech-savvy."

Eurostar has only managed to sell about 7,000 ePad Femmes despite its $190 price tag, indicating that al-Nafjan's observations are not uncommon.

But with the recent news from Google co-founder Sergey Brin that smartphones are "emasculating," maybe this tablet isn't so far from what men already reject and women really want. (Right, ladies?!)
