Tori Wheeler: Teen Stabs Boyfriend in April Fools Prank Gone Wrong

Impact

An Oklahoma teen's April Fools Day prank went horribly wrong for both her and her boyfriend when he ended up in the hospital and she landed in jail.

18-year-old Tori Wheeler's joke got a relatively harmless start: She simply told her boyfriend, Derek Bauer, that she was pregnant. (So far, better than Lindsay Lohan's late "I'm pregnant" joke she posted via Twitter.)

But Bauer got angry.

Which made Wheeler angry ... enough to brandish a knife Bauer had given her two weeks before.

Bauer, who got un-mad very quickly upon seeing the knife, then threatened to call the police. But Wheeler reacted too quickly for him to act upon his threat, and stabbed him in the neck.

Seven stitches later, along with treatment for 2 bite marks, Bauer was okay...

...and Wheeler had been booked into the county jail. She now faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon.

Here are a few more April Fools' Day "pranks" that went awry:

- A Hawaii radio station announced that there was eruption activity from the Mauna Loa volcano, which hasn't erupted in 30 years, shutting down a major road and prompting 2 people to call 911.

- A Missouri soldier told another soldier to bend over and pick up his gear, then stabbed him in the buttocks with a knife. The man required surgery to repair the damage.

- A Virginia Waffle House employee called 911 to report a robbery...that wasn't happening. The employee faces a maximum of 12 months in jail and a $2,500 fine for her prank.

- Several people thought the Sunday Google doodle tribute to civil rights activist Cesar Chavez was an early April Fools' joke — not just for allegedly ignoring Easter, but also because several confused him with recently deceased Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez.

Comrades, we have well over 350 days until next April 1. In the coming year, please do your best to stay smart, control your anger, and maintain sanity. There's only one thing worse than your bad April Fools' prank becoming national news, and that's your bad not-even-close-to-April prank making national news.
