Adam Savader: Paul Ryan's Former Intern Caught Blackmailing Women For Nude Pictures
Oh, so these are the family values and morals Republicans are always going on about.
Twenty-one year old Adam Savader, a political science student at SUNY Farmingdale and former sole-intern to GOP vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan, was arrested on Tuesday by FBI agents and charged with cyber-stalking and blackmailing young women through the internet.
According to the FBI’s press release on the arrest, “From May 2012 through February 2013, Adam Paul Savader sent anonymous text messages using Google Voice numbers to 15 women stating that he had nude photographs of the women and threatening to distribute the nude photographs to the women’s friends and family members unless the women sent him more nude photographs of themselves. Savader sent some of the victims links to a photo-sharing website where nude pictures of the victims had been posted.” Creepy.
It gets worse. Apparently, he preyed on these women, many of whom he had known in high school, while in Washington, D.C., Massachusetts, Michigan, and New York. In fact, although Savader hails from New York, the IP address used to contact 10 of the victims was registered to a home in Massachusetts, where he lived while working as an intern at the Paul Ryan 2012 campaign’s office. In other words, he was working on the campaign and stalking these young women simultaneously.
Paul Ryan wasn’t the only one to employ this charmer. According to his Twitter, this self-proclaimed “American patriot” and “Reagan Republican” also interned for the Mitt Romney campaign and was a staffer for the Newt Gingrich campaign.
According to a criminal complaint, Savader had threatened to send one woman's naked pictures to the Republican National Committee, her sororities and her family if she failed to comply with his demands.
He was increasingly threatening to other victims as well. According to the complaint, he had allegedly texted one of his victims saying, “Listen to me. If we don’t have a deal I will send the pictures to those people. Is that what u want? remember what’s at stake. do u want ur family and everyone in DC to see your t—s? Just agree to e-mail me a pic of you in a bra.”
Another victim from Ann Arbor, Mich., told the cops that Savader, the cyber-stalking, wasn’t only stalking but also hacking. According to her, he had gotten her nude photos by hacking into her AOL account and copying the pictures she had sent to her boyfriend.
If convicted, Savader could face up to five years in jail.
