An early unexpected result has occurred in Berkeley County in the South Carolina 1st Congressional special election. Mark Sanford is behind his opponent Elizabeth Colbert Busch in the polls early, which is very surprising given that small rural counties tend to vote Republican. Also Berkeley County was expected to be a Sanford stronghold. Although it is too early to call anything, this may be the early warnings of a bad sign.
