New Direction for Halo, and New Square Enix Mystery

Culture

Halo is going top-down third person. Halo: Spartan Assault is a Windows 8 exclusive (not Xbox) game being released in the Halo franchise using touch-screen controls to engage in classic third-person shooting. I am excited to see how it turns out, but (like with Halo: Wars) doubt the game will be able to exceed the legacy of its legendary first person shooter predecessors.

Murdered: Soul Suspect, by Square Enix is looking really intriguing. I have been watching some gameplay demos from Gamespot for the game, and researched its E3 and launch trailers, and the gameplay is getting me excited. It is a third-person action/adventure game about a detective solving his own murder as a ghost, while dodging demons and possessing the living. The possessions, incorporeality, and stalking demons add up to some really interesting stealth gameplay, while the puzzling noir mystery promises an interesting plot.
