Obama Knox College Speech LIVE: Economy Speech Tour Kicks Off

On Wednesday at 1 pm eastern time, President Obama will again deliver a speech at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. The speech will focus on the economy, and among the topics Obama is expected to cover in this and subsequent speeches, are manufacturing and the housing market recovery. Obama is expected to outline proposals for improving these sectors and the economy in general. The speech is already being panned on the right, and will ultimately change little. 

The speech may signal an attempt by Obama to shift focus to the economy ahead of the 2014 midterm elections in an effort change the dynamics of the House of Representatives. The GOP-controlled House has been a major hindrance for the president in implementing his agenda since 2011, after a wave of Tea Party support swept the Democrats out of the power in the lower chamber.
