What Is 'Aiding The Enemy'?

Impact

According to the United Code of Military Justice, our military's rule of law, anyone who ''aids the enemy'' is a person who either:

1) aids, or attempts to aid, the enemy with arms, ammunition, supplies, money, or other things; or

2) without proper authority, knowingly harbors or protects or gives intelligence to or communicates or corresponds with or holds any intercourse with the enemy, either directly or indirectly

But who is the "enemy" in the Bradley Manning case? If Manning had tried to aid Al-Qaeda when he leaked the "Collateral Murder" video, this might be a simple verdict. But from what it seems, Manning was trying to show America the Iraq War's true face.

So if he is convicted of "aiding the enemy," does that mean the enemy is you and I?
