Syria War: Russia's Proposal Could Kill Plans For U.S. Military Action

The U.S. is now considering Russia's offer to place Syria's chemical weapons under international control. 

President Barack Obama called the plan a "possible breakthrough", and told Fox News last night that the U.S. will now "pursue this diplomatic track." 

Senate Majority leader Harry Reid has now postponed the vote authorizing military action in Syria. 

President Obama last night confessed that even his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama, is against the possibility of an air strike on Syria. According to Pew Research Center, a majority of Americans are opposed to the attack, and the number continues to grow.

Meanwhile, Syria has accepted Russia's proposal. Russia's Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, today said that the two countries will work with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to create a detailed plan for handing over chemical weapons. 

The U.S. has been considering military action against Syria after a chemical attack on the outskirts of Damascus on August 21.
