Washington Navy Yard Mass Shooting: Eyewitness Account
In this video Patricia Ward, a Naval logistics management specialist, describes her experience inside the building as shots were fired Monday morning at the Washington Navy Yard.
Ward said she counted at least seven shots. It was like "pow pow pow," she said. She believed a shooter was on the fourth floor, but did not see any armed gunman herself.
"It would be very hard to get into the building without a card," she explained, referencing the scanned ID cards employees use to enter the building. She called the experience "terrifying," adding, "I don't feel safe."
