Steve Lonegan Press Conference On Cory Booker's Alleged Crack House Turns Into Fiasco

Impact

On Tuesday morning Republican U.S. Senate candidate for New Jersey Steve Lonegan announced he would hold a press conference at 2:30pm in order to allege that Newark mayor and Democratic Senate candidate Cory Booker owned a "crack house." Based on early footage from the event, it appears that Lonegan opted to hold the press conference outside (at the "crack house" in question?), which meant that just about anyone could attend.

As it turns out, "anyone" did.

Earlier, Lonegan's campaign had issued a press release stating in part, "Mayor Steve Lonegan, the Republican candidate for the United States Senate, will hold a press conference today in front of Cory Booker's abandoned property, now a crack house."

Booker acquired the property in question while mayor, and the location was the subject of numerous complaints, who alleged that the property was neglected and had become "overrun by squatters."
