GOP Rep Tells CNN Anchor She's "Beautiful" But Doesn't Know What She's Talking About

Impact

Nothing like being told you're beautiful in the morning especially when it comes with a heap of "mansplaining." Rep. Todd Rokita (R-Ind.), a member of the House Committee on the Budget, joined Carol Costello on Thursday morning's CNN Newsroom, to discuss the government shutdown — and to hit on her.

While they debated on the purpose of the government shutdown, Rokita routinely dismissed Costello’s opinion by complimenting on her looks instead. While defending the shutdown, Rokita claimed that "I do not know if you have children yet, I'm sure you don't have grandchildren yet, you look much too young, but we're fighting for them."

Watch the remarks below:

Costello deflects the compliment with an un-amused thank you and calls Rokita out. "No, this fight is about Obamacare, it's not about reforming the system."

After calling Obamacare "one of the most insidious laws ever developed by men" Rokita comes back, heckling Costello with a whopping five "Seriously Carol" until finally pointing his finger at Costello and the media for being a part of the problem.

Costello almost laughs at Rokita, dismissing his claim as "too easy." But Rokita comes back for the win with "Carol, you're beautiful but you have to be honest as well."

Oh, what a beautiful lesson, Congressman Rokita. I need to go write that down somewhere.
