Watch: Republican Congressman Completely Loses It On Camera With a Reporter

Apparently, there are some things you just shouldn’t ask New York Representative Michael Grimm. As NY1 reporter Mike Scotto found out last night, that includes a question on Grimm’s campaign finances. And be warned: if you ask him something he doesn’t like, Grimm will “break you in half.”

Following the State of the Union address last night, Scotto interviewed Grimm about the president’s speech, but when he tried asking about the arrest of one of Grimm’s campaign fundraisers, Grimm walked off. A few seconds later, with the camera still rolling, Grimm returned, got in Scotto’s face and threatened to throw the reporter off the balcony. Grimm then told Scotto, “You’re not a man. I will break you in half.”

Real classy behavior from a sitting congressman. There’s nothing like bullying a reporter for asking a question that screams public service. NY1 is demanding a full apology from Grimm and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has called on the House to denounce Grimm’s actions.

What does Grimm have to say for himself? In a statement released last night, Grimm said, “I verbally took the reporter to task and told him off, because I expect a certain level of professionalism and respect, especially when I go out of my way to do that reporter a favor.”

Yea, about that whole “professionalism and respect” thing: I’m not sure if that includes threatening to break reporters in half. But maybe that’s just me.
