Congressman Assures Us There's No Racial Profiling in Ferguson With Worst Logic Ever

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) doesn't think racial profiling is motivating the police clashes with demonstrators in Ferguson, Mo., since most protesters share a common "continental origin."

The continent King had in mind probably wasn't North America.

This is what the congressman told Newsmax TV host J.D. Hayworth when asked about concerns by other members of Congress about police misconduct:

"This idea of no racial profiling, I've seen the video. It looks to me like you don't need to bother with that particular factor because they all appear to be of a single, you know, of a single origin, I should say, a continental origin might be the way to phrase that."

King's line of reasoning makes no sense. The ACLU defines racial profiling as "law enforcement and private security practices that disproportionately target people of color for investigation and enforcement." That seems to be exactly what's going on in Ferguson. 

Perhaps sensing the implications of his comments, King went on to say, "We're all God's children and we all should be held to the same standards and the same level of behavior." If only.
