Can AI help you write the perfect wedding vows? I tried it out to see
Use it for personalized vows, ceremony verbiage and toasts.
Your wedding vows are arguably the most important speech you’ll ever make — no pressure, right? If you’re struggling to find the perfect words to express your love, Provenance and its AI technology has you covered: The tech company can help you craft personalized, meaningful wedding vows and even the verbiage for the ceremony and toasts, too. But just how good are these tools? I tried them out to give you the inside scoop.
Fast facts
- Personalized: Input specific information about you and your fiancé, then tweak the generated wording to reflect you as a couple
- Customizable: Choose the length, tone, and more
- Multiple uses: The site’s tools cover the vows, toasts, and even parts of the ceremony like a welcoming and officiant’s address
- Budget-friendly: Cost starts at $44.99 (when you use code BDG10 to save 10%)
- User-friendly dashboard: Follow the checklists to keep everything on track
How does the vow builder work?
To write your vows using Provenance’s vow builder, you choose how long you’d like them to be, ranging from one to four minutes. Then, pick the overall tone — do you want your vows to be funny and playful, formal and elevated, or creative and unique?
Next, you answer a few questions about what you love most about your partner, how you plan to grow together, how will you encourage and inspire your each other, and more. This is where the personalized aspect comes into play: These responses speak to your relationship and will ensure your vows are as unique as your love is. While I am already married, I used real information about my husband and me for testing purposes.
It takes less than a minute to generate the initial draft of your wedding vows — obviously, it’s much faster than you could do on your own. Give them a read, then you can edit the text to ensure it reflects exactly what you want to say. You can also adjust the tone and length, or edit your responses to the questions to regenerate a brand new set of vows to work from. When they’re perfect, export them as a PDF.
Other tools for your ceremony & toasts
Need help creating your wedding ceremony? Provenance can help with that, too. It breaks down the ceremony into six different chapters, including the welcome and procession, officiant’s address, reading and rituals, vows, ring exchange and I do’s, pronouncement, kiss, and celebration.
Each chapter has specific questions for you to answer to form your wedding ceremony. And the reading and rituals chapter features 600-plus options for you to consider. Just like the vow builder, you can edit and personalize everything until it’s perfect for your one-of-a-kind nuptials.
Provenance also has a tool to help out those giving a toast, whether it’s members of your wedding party, family, or friends. You can add guest speakers to your Provenance account — input information like their name, when they’ll be speaking, preferred toast time length, and more — and they’ll gain access to the toast builder to assist them.

The verdict
When I first came across Provenance, I was concerned that the ceremonies, vows, and toasts that the tools generated would feel generic. However, there are many thoughtful questions for you and your fiancé (and others involved in your wedding) to answer that help create a personalized feel for your special day. Plus, if the tools don’t nail the wording the first time, it’s simple (and no added cost) to tweak it to perfection. For the price? I think it’s a no-brainer for couples planning their nuptials.
